The Core Concept

TriviaFlow is not a typical website where everyone sees the same thing. Instead, it simulates a TV Game Show environment by splitting the interface into three distinct "Views."

Understanding these roles is key to running a successful event.

1. The Stage (Lobby View)

This is the "Passive View". It is designed to be displayed on a large screen, projector, or TV at the front of the room.

  • Function: It acts as the single source of truth for the audience.
  • Content:
    • Shows the Join Code and QR Code before the game starts.
    • Displays the Question and Options.
    • Shows the animated Timer and Leaderboard after every round.
  • Interaction: No one interacts with this screen directly (no mouse/keyboard needed once set up).

2. The Controller (Game Master)

This is the "Active Control". It is designed to be used by the host on a smartphone, tablet, or laptop.

  • Function: It gives you full control over the game flow without the audience seeing what you are doing.
  • Capabilities:
    • Start/Stop the timer.
    • Skip to the next question.
    • Kick players who misbehave.
    • Inject Quizzes dynamically into a running session.
  • Security: This view is protected. You must be logged in as an Admin to access it, regardless of whether you scan the QR code or enter the URL manually.
Detailed Guide

For a complete walkthrough of the interface, see the Gamemaster Dashboard Guide.

The "Remote Control" Metaphor

Think of the Game Master view as the remote control for your TV. You hold it in your hand, walk around the room, and control what happens on the "Stage."

3. The Player (Mobile View)

This is the "Interactive View". It is designed for smartphones and optimized for mobile networks.

  • Function: It turns the user's phone into a game buzzer.
  • User Experience:
    • No App Required: Runs entirely in the browser.
    • Wake Lock: Automatically prevents the phone screen from turning off during the game.
    • Haptic Feedback: Buttons provide visual feedback when tapped.
  • Reconnection: If a player loses connection (e.g., closes the browser), they can rejoin with the same name and code to restore their score.

How a Session Works

  1. Setup: The Host logs into the Admin Panel, creates a session, and opens the Lobby View on the projector.
  2. Join Phase: The Lobby displays a QR Code. Players scan it to join. The Host watches the names appear on the Game Master dashboard.
  3. Game Loop:
    • Host clicks "Start Game".
    • Question appears on Lobby and Player devices simultaneously.
    • Players tap their answer (A, B, C, or D).
    • Time runs out (or Host stops it).
    • Lobby reveals the correct answer and updates the leaderboard.
  4. End: The session ends, and the final winner is crowned on the Lobby screen.
