⚡ Tutorial: Your First Quiz

This guide will walk you through the entire process of creating and hosting your first quiz on TriviaFlow.

Prerequisites​

  • You have deployed TriviaFlow (or running locally).
  • You have created an Admin Superuser.

Step 1: Upload Images (Optional)​

TriviaFlow uses a Central Media Library. Before writing questions, it's best to upload your assets.

  1. Log in to the Admin Panel (/admin/).
  2. Click on Image Library (under Quiz).
  3. Click Add Image +.
  4. Upload a file (e.g., a movie poster) and give it a title like "poster_matrix".
  5. Click Save.

Step 2: Create the Quiz​

  1. Go back to the Home dashboard.
  2. Click on Quizzes.
  3. Click Add Quiz +.
  4. Title: "Movie Night Trivia".
  5. Description: "A fun test of our film knowledge."
  6. Click Save and continue editing.

Step 3: Add Questions​

  1. Click the "Questions" tab at the top of the form (next to "General").
  2. Use the inline editor to add questions.

Quiz Editor Tabs

Question 1: Text Only​

  1. Text: "Who directed the movie 'Jaws'?"
  2. Options:
    • A: George Lucas
    • B: Steven Spielberg
    • C: James Cameron
    • D: Ridley Scott
  3. Correct: Select B.
  4. Duration: 20 (seconds).

Question 2: With Image​

  1. Text: "Which movie is this poster from?"
  2. Image: Click the dropdown and select the "poster_matrix" image you uploaded earlier.
  3. Options:
    • A: The Matrix
    • B: Inception
    • C: Tron
    • D: Blade Runner
  4. Correct: Select A.

Click Save at the bottom of the page.

Step 4: Launch the Game​

Now it's time to play!

  1. Go to the main site URL (e.g., https://quiz.your-domain.com).
  2. Click Create Game.
  3. Select Movie Night Trivia from the list.
  4. Click Start Game.

The Lobby Screen will appear with a QR Code.

Step 5: Join & Play​

  1. Take your smartphone.
  2. Scan the QR Code on the screen.
  3. Enter your nickname (e.g., "Neo").
  4. Host Control: On your separate computer (or in a new tab), go to /gamemaster/ and enter the 4-letter room code.
  5. On the Gamemaster Dashboard, click Start Game!
